Testimonial from Diane Andrews on Provence Jackdaw Trip Sept 7-14, 2016
” I would like to share comments and thoughts on the recent Jackdaw Brocante Tour in the company of its doyenne Dee Poquette. Upon arriving in Nice, we spent time enjoying the city and the fabulous outdoor market in the old section of the city. The market is a delight for the eyes and nose. Our hotel, was conveniently located to the Promenade Des Anglais, Le Vieux-Nice, and the Cours Saleya.
On the next day, our wonderful driver for the week, Christophe, arrived. It was very efficient to have him do all the driving, parking and picking us up when we were done for the day.
The Mas Du Cimai was a memorable home away from home. Staying at the Mas was one of the highlights of the trip, allowing us to encounter fellow travelers. The pool was something I looked forward to every afternoon after a hard day of sightseeing, eating and shopping. There is a “summer kitchen” near the pool area where guests can keep their goodies. Some nights at the Mas, we dined for a very reasonable price “En Famille” with the proprietors Sylvie and Pierre and their other guest. Sylvie arranged for us to visit the local Boulanger, where the bread magic happens each morning for the village.
We left the Mas and drove to Aix-en-Provence for one night and then the next day toured L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. After visiting La Sorgue we headed back to the Mas for our last night.
Our last night of the tour was spent in Nice before returning to the States.
Dee’s tours focus on cuisine, sights of interest in Provence, and market shopping, both antique and new. She is familiar with many markets– Aix en Provence, L’Isle-sur-la- Sorgue, Nice, Evenos and the seaside market of Sanary-sur- Mer. If you want to spend a week in Provence and on the Riviera, have company and a fine safe driver and have an itinerary already planed out for you, this kind of experience would be suitable for you. We saw a lot, did a lot, ate a lot, had a lot of fun, and made some fine memories and of course brought a lot of souvenirs. Bon Voyage!”
